Last week, one of our Donahue Truck Centers box trucks embarked on a special mission up the stunning Central Coast. Our journey wasn’t about a routine delivery; it was about delivering joy, hope, and the simple, profound freedom of a new bike to children in our community.
Our Journey Up the Coast
We started in Santa Barbara at the heart of our purpose: CASA of Santa Barbara County. For those who may not know, CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) is a remarkable organization that trains and supports volunteer advocates. These dedicated individuals stand beside children in the foster care system, providing a consistent, caring adult presence and a powerful voice in court to ensure each child’s needs are heard and their well-being is prioritized. They are beacons of stability in a time of uncertainty.
CASA is deeply important to us at Donahue. We believe in supporting the foundation of our community, and nothing is more foundational than our children. This recent trip was just one chapter in our ongoing Partnership. We’ve been proud to support their events and initiatives before, because their work aligns perfectly with our values of integrity, care, and community strength. From CASA, our truck, filled with brand-new bikes, traveled north—a moving symbol of our community’s collective heart. We made meaningful stops to acknowledge the incredible partners who helped make this possible: the Local Plumbers and Pipefitters Union 114 and The Chumash Foundation, whose generosity helped turn this dream into a reality.

Our final stop was Toyota of Santa Maria, which kindly served as the cheerful pickup point. Here, the magic happened. CASA kids and their devoted advocates will come to pick up their new bikes, knowing that the bike(s) will bring smiles and excitement, which is the ultimate reward. It will be a moment of pure, unbridled joy, a reminder of the childhood every kid deserves.
At Donahue Truck Centers, we’re in the business of keeping things moving. But nothing fuels us more than using our wheels to help move hearts forward. We’re honored to play a small part in CASA’s monumental work and to see our community link arms to lift up its youngest members. This is what partnership means, and we look forward to many more journeys together.
